Description. The Antrim Coasts and Glens AONB extends to include Rathlin Island, the Glens of Antrim and the coastal area between Larne and Ballycastle, and is dominated by the Antrim Plateau which is metres (1, ft) at its highest point.
This plateau is incised by rapidly flowing rivers into a series of glens which run eastwards and north-eastwards into the sea. Drive the Antrim coast road, all the way from Carrickfergus to Ballycastle, to Portrush, then keep going around the Seacoast Road to Binevenagh, Magilligan, Derry and beyond to Donegal.
